Necaxa release a new shirt in honour of Don Ramón

The start of the Clausura 2023 is just around the corner and the teams are already in preseason. Some, like Necaxa, are participating in the Sky Cup that will conclude on 30 December, and then will give their players a breather ahead of the competition that begins on Friday 6 January.

Necaxa’s nod to Don Ramón

For the new tournament, different teams have begun to show off the kits they will wear, with one of them being Necaxa bringing out something special, in honour of the Chavo del 8 character, Don Ramón.

They made the announcement on their social networks, as did their sponsor, the latter with a video in which the Ramón Valdés character appears as a caricature.

Don Ramón and his fanaticism for Necaxa

Don Ramón was part of the cast of characters on the program El Chavo del 8, created by Roberto Gómez Bolaños. He was a man who lived with his daughter, La Chilindrina. He did not have a steady job, but he sold churros, water, participated in boxing, American football, singing, and he also excelled as a musician, master builder and more. In different episodes, he made it clear that his favourite Mexican soccer team was Necaxa. In fact, every time the camera entered his apartment, in the background one could see a pennant from the team, which back then played in Mexico City.

They did not bring out the new uniform in front of Pumas

This December 20, the day of the announcement of their new kit, Necaxa played their second match of the Sky Cup, against Pumas. However, they didn’t use the new commemorative shirt, instead coming out with a blue alternative; fans will have to wait until the Clausura 2023 begins for the new version.
