Not Salah, nor Palmer: top three most effective players in Premier League revealed

He may not have been most people’s first guess at this stage of the season, but the statistics point to a fan favorite doing his thing.

Luis Díaz Liverpool

Luis Díaz has been instrumental in Liverpool’s resurgence, as the Premier League leaders dream once again of becoming champions. The Colombian has made a significant impact on the attacking front, clocking 1,121 minutes across 18 matches and contributing to ten goals, with eight scored and two assisted.

Who is the most effective attacker in the Premier League?

The winger boasts the highest efficiency rate in the entire Premier League – excluding penalty kicks – with a 61.5% conversion rate. He has scored eight goals from 13 chances. Second in this ranking is João Pedro of Brighton, who has five goals at a 57.1% conversion rate. Brentford’s Yoane Wissa rounds out the top three, scoring nine goals at 52.4%.

This performance places Díaz ahead of players like Heung-min Son, Dominic Solanke, Erling Haaland, and Alexander Isak, who are also in the top 10.

Including penalties, Díaz ranks third according to All About FPL statistics. Pedro now leads in this category with 62.5%, followed by Justin Kluivert of AFC Bournemouth, who has scored six goals from nine opportunities, achieving a 66.6% conversion rate. High-profiled Reds teammate Mohamed Salah also feature in the top 10.

The league has just passed the halfway stage.

Beyond his Premier League stats, Díaz has scored once in the Carabao Cup and added three goals and one assist in the UEFA Champions League. Across all competitions this season, the Colombian winger has played 26 matches, scoring 12 goals and providing 3 assists.

Díaz’s next challenge in the Premier League comes on Tuesday, January 14, at 3:00 p.m. ET, when Liverpool visits third-placed surprise package Nottingham Forest. The winger was rested over the weekend as the Reds secured a dominant 4-0 victory against Accrington in the third round of the FA Cup.
