NWSL to be included on FIFA 23

The EA SPORTS game FIFA 23 will feature the National Women’s Soccer League and key players from the United States, Canada and Mexico.

2023 is a big year for women’s football with the 2023 Australia-New Zealand Women’s World Cup set to be staged between July and August, as the ‘Stars and Stripes’ USWNT team looking to complete a hattrick of World Cup wins. With added focus on the women’s game it was confirmed that the NWSL (National Women’s Soccer League) will be available on the EA Sports FIFA 23 video game as of 15 March.

Key USWNT stars that will feature are: Becky Sauerbrunn (Portland Thorns), Rose Lavelle (OL Reign), Ashley Sánchez (Washington Spirit), Alex Morgan (San Diego Wave), Megan Rapinoe (OL Reign), Mallory Swanson (Chicago Red Stars) and Trinity Rodman (Washington Spirit). Canadian stars Christine Sinclair (Portland Thorns) and Kailen Sheridan (San Diego Wave) also feature along Mexico’s María Sánchez and Diana Ordóñez from Houston Dash.

Through a communique published on its official page, the American women’s league commented: “The integration of the NWSL in EA SPORTS FIFA 23 is a monumental milestone for the league, the players and millions of soccer fans around the world as we continue to push the boundaries of the women’s game.”

This is a thrilling time for women’s football, and we’re looking forward to collaborating with EA SPORTS to champion the sport and create new opportunities for fans around the world to engage with these incredibly talented players.”

Fans of the NWSL will be able to play with the 12 existing franchises, using four official stadiums, uniforms for all the teams, trophies and special celebrations.
