Official: Eugenio Pizzuto, second new arrival at Tigres
The midfielder follows Carlos Felipe Rodríguez as Tigres’ second reinforcement ahead of the Apertura 2023.
Tigres have officially announced the signing of Eugenio Pizzuto for the Apertura 2023. The Mexican midfielder underwent a rigorous medical examination on Wednesday morning, passing the tests successfully before signing his contract with the royals (believed to be for two years).
The former Pachuca youth team apprentice arrives as a free agent after concluding his spell with Sporting Braga. He returns to Mexico after spending three years in Europe - a spell in France with Lille, followed by an uneventful year in Portugal. The former tuzo is joined by Carlos Felipe Rodríguez, a 33-year-old Mexican goalkeeper who also arrives as a free agent and will battle it out with Nahuel Guzmán for a regular place in the side.
The former Monarcas keeper reached an agreement for one year and will act as the team’s second-choice, replacing Miguel Ortega, who is out for the season with a shoulder injury.
Last piece of the puzzle
Tigres will continue making improvements and hope to tie up one last reinforcement. Robert Dante Siboldi has requested signing a winger to create competition in that position.
Chilean winger Jean Meneses has been linked in recent days, however, there have been no approaches with the Toluca player. It also remains to be decided which foreigners to sacrifice after the rule change - Nicolás López and Igor Lichnosvky are the candidates.
