Official: Javier Chicharito Hernández returns to Chivas
Guadalajara published a video which included collaborations from legendary coaches Carlo Ancelotti and Sir Alex Ferguson to officially announce Chicharito’s return.
The wait is over. Another big name star joins the Liga MX for the Clausura 2024. Today, Chivas officially announced the return of Javier Chicharito Hernández. The club made the announced through their social media platforms, with a video starring European and Mexican soccer pundits, former players and legends who have coached the player during his career such as Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United and Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
Chicharito had been a free agent since the start of the New Year when his contract with Los Galaxy expired. He has been training in Miami as he continues with his rehabilitation from the ACL injury which he suffered last summer. In the meantime, his agents were busy negotiating his return to Chivas - his hometown club where he began his career as a nine-year-old in the youth academy.
Back home after 14 years abroad
He left Mexico for Europe in the summer of 2010, signing for Manchester United, winning two Premier League titles (2010–11, 2012–13) and a Community Shield (2010) during his time at Old Trafford. More success followed in Spain where he was part of the Real Madrid side that won the Club World Cup in 2014 and later at Sevilla with whom he lifted the Europa League.
Chivas’ promo video has caused a huge reaction in Mexico. In the two-minute clip, a beaming Ricardo Marín is seen clutching a red and white No.14 jersey, and excited Pollo Briseño along with a compilation of some of the forward’s classic goals. In another segment, Amaury Vergara is seen answering his cellphone: “He’s back!”
