One of the babies Cristiano and Georgina were expecting has died
The couple issued a statement on social media, announcing the death of their son and birth of a daughter.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez were hoping to be parents to twins - a boy and a girl, as they happily announced a few months ago. The couple were looking to make 2022 a great year welcoming new additions to their family, with a brother and sister for Cristiano Jr., Alana Martina, Eva and Mateo.
But on Monday, the pair had some extremely sad news, with the confirmation that one of the twins, the boy, had died due to complications during birth. The Manchester United star and Georgina issued a joint message on Instagram: “It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away. It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel,” it read.
Daughter doing well
Heartbreaking news for the family, who added that fortunately their newborn daughter had survived: “Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support”.
Cristiano and Georgina, who have not disclosed what name they will give their new daughter, ended their message: “We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you”.
