The news shocked the whole world, and tributes have poured in since, including a touching tribute from Liverpool fans at Anfield, applauding in unison in honour of Manchester United’s ‘7′, as everyone wanted to make their feelings known to the Portuguese star and the family. In the same statement they also said: “Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.”.

That girl is “firm, strong and full of health”, Katia Aveiro, Cristiano’s sister, said following the birth. And, after three days without hearing much, the footballer shared a first image in which the whole family can be seen, with Georgina and the newborn baby girl together with the striker, Cristiano Jr, Alana, Mateo and Eva.

It’s a picture in which the family can be seen happy and united, with the baby girl in Cristiano’s arms in what looks like it could be her new room.

“Home sweet home. Gio and our baby girl are finally together with us. We want to thank everyone for all the kind words and gestures. Your support is very important and we all felt the love and respect that you have for our family. Now it’s time to be grateful for the life that we’ve just welcomed into this world,” read the post from the former Real Madrid and Juventus superstar.

The reactions were immediate, and in a matter of minutes the publication filled with ‘likes’ - reaching one million in the first few minutes, quickly rising to the tens of millions. These were added to with numerous comments from friends such as Arbeloa, Marcus Rashford and John Terry, among many, many others.
