Panama vs Canada: As it happened
Goals from Jonathan David and Alphonso Davies booked Canada’s place in the final of the Concacaf Nations League.
Facing a well-drilled Panama side at the Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Canada’s superior quality showed with two brilliantly-taken goals.
Canada took the lead midway through the first half when Jonathan David latched onto a through ball and finished coolly past Mosquera. It was the Lille man’s 25th goal for Canada and comes after a fine goal-scoring season in France.
To two teams looked fairly evenly matched for much of the game, until the introduction of Alphonso Davies on the hour mark. Unsurprisingly, the Champions League winner looked a cut above the Panamanian defence and he made his mark within minutes of entering the fray.
Davies picked up the ball on the left and drove into the box, before firing high into the roof of the net from a tight angle. A brilliant goal and one that sealed the game for Canada.
There was a little late drama as Panama's Eric Davies was dismissed for lashing out in frustration, a decision recommended by a VAR call.
Canada glide into the final of the Concacaf Nations League and, on this evidence, they will take some stopping.

John Herdman's exciting Canadian side are into the final of a competition for the first time in 23 years, progressing past a spirited Panama team in the semi-finals of the Nations League.

Canada progress to the final of the Nations League with a 2-0 win over Panama. Goals from Jonathan David and Alphonso Davies made the difference, as Canada's elite stars showed their worth for their country.
Canada look to play for time in the final moments, not exerting too much energy ahead of this weekend's final.
Mexico play the United States later tonight for the other spot in the final. Neither side will fancy facing a Davies-inspired Canada, on tonight's evidence.

It's never good when the referee is called over to the screen...
The yellow card is withdrawn and replaced with a red one. It's probably a harsh dismissal and one borne out of frustration for Eric Davies. That is probably that for Panama in the Nations League.
VAR check for violent conduct
Hang on, the referee is having another look at that Davies 'challenge'.
It's not particularly dangerous, but he certainly lashes out at the Canada defender. This could be about to get a lot worse for Panama.

Frustration bubbling over for Panama now as Davies swing an arm out after being dispossessed on the halfway line.
Canada are doing a nice job of closing the game down now, keeping the ball as well as they have at any part of this game. Panama are finding it difficult to get the ball.
This is turning into the Alphonso Davies Show in the final stages, beating players with ease on the left flank and squaring the ball for his team. Panama manage to get the ball away from danger once again, but the Bayern Munich man has certainly turned this tie in their favour.
Credit to Panama, they are continuing to push to get back into this game. Carrasquilla is looking to get something going in the final 15 minutes but his team are definitely tiring now.

So nearly a third for Canada, all from the brilliance of Alphonso Davies on the left flank.
He skips past a tired Panamanian challenge and fires across the face of goal. There's no one there to meet it though, and the ball is safely cleared.
Panama need to push forward now if they are to have any hope of getting back into the game, but that is a very risky business with Canada's firepower at the other end.
Cyle Larin is leading the lead for Canada, with Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David either side. It's a formidable front line.
It does feel a bit like cheating, bringing Champions League winner Alphonso Davies over to run at the tiring Panama defence. The finish was exceptional, making the best of a very tight angle to smash the ball past Mosquera.
Panama can be proud of their performance so far. But in Davies and Jonathan David, Canada have two players who belong at the very top level.

The 22-year-old doubles the Canadian lead with a left-footed strike from a narrow angle, firing high into the roof of the net. That's what he's there for!
Another Canada substitute, this time it's Johnston replaced by Kennedy.
Alphonso Davies is starting off on the left wing tonight, rather than the more central position he often occupies for the national team.
Perhaps John Herdman is trying to keep the Bayern Munich superstar away from the more hectic central areas as he recovers from a hamstring injury sustained last month.

That should have been two for Canada!
The ball is whipped in from the Canadian right by Buchanan and finds Laryea charging in at the back post.
He connects well with a header but Mosquera flies across the goal to parry the ball wide. Sensational stop from the Panama goalkeeper!
Chance! Panama
Nearly an equaliser for Panama at the culmination of a slick passing move. Andrade's backheel finds Diaz in space in the penalty box but his low effort is saved by Borjan.
That will give Thomas Christiansen's side confidence.
So far, Panama have registered five attempt on goal to Canada's one.
That shot, courtesy of Jonathan David, remains the difference between the two teams.
Davies' underhit cross is easily cleared but the ball if recycled out to the right and another ball is whipped into the box. It looks dangerous but drifts just wide of the Canada goal.

Panama are looking to push the tempo at the start of the second half, hassling and harrying the Canada backline.

A recent addition to the Canadian backroom staff, former Inter Miami head coach Phil Nevilla. The former Manchester United player may just have missed out on the chance to coach Lionel Messi in MLS but he's just 45 minutes away from the Nations League final now.
One change at the break for Panama as Eric Davies replaces Murillo.
Second half underway
We're back at it at the Allegiant Stadium, with Canada just 45 minutes away from the Nations League semi-final.
It'll be interesting to see how Panama opt to start off in the second half. They looked comfortable on the ball in the opening stages of the first 45 but struggled to make and clear openings from it.
They looked the more dangerous playing on the break, but with Canada now in the lead they will be less chance for them to catch them on the counter.
Jonathan David reaches quarter-century
After scoring 26 goals for French side Lille season, Jonathan David has continued his good form into the Nations League. He is now on 25 goals for his country, just three away from the record held by tonight's strike partner Cyle Larin.

That's it for the first half in Las Vegas. A tight opening 45 minutes, but Canada had the quality to lead at the break.
Kone (Canada)
The Canadian midfielder is down after being on the receiving end of a tough tackle. Referee is encouraging him to return to his feet for the final second of the first half.
It's Canada who are finishing the first half as the stronger of the two teams. Buchanan's powerful running is allowing Canada to strike quickly on the break and really unsettle the Panama defence.
Nothing came of it that time, but it's something to watch out for in the second half. Particularly if Alphonso Davies makes an appearance.
Three minutes of added time
There's going to be another three minutes of action in the Allegiant Stadium. Can Panama find an equaliser before the break?
A long ball from Miller finds Adekougbe racing down the left wing for Canada. He whips the ball into the box but his cross is overhit and goes out for a throw-in on the far side.
Not quite the execution that Canada were looking for, but that long ball is certainly proving effective.
Final few minutes of the first half now, Canada look pretty content with things as they are and are standing off the Panama backline. Head coach John Herdman will be happy with a halftime lead.
Blackman (Panama)
The Panamanian defender hauls down Jonathan David on the halfway line and is rightfully booked. No real need for a challenge like that in that area of the pitch, but the Panama defence is clearly wary of David's talents.
Just a note on the opening goal: that Jonathan David strike was his 25th for Canada, reaching that milestone in just 41 appearance. Quite a record for the Canadian forward.
Nearly an opening for Diaz as he skips past Buchanan and looks to be in on goal. Unfortunately for the Panama forward he is adjudged to has committed a foul in the process and Canada are awarded the free kick.
Unclear exactly what he was penalised for there.
Bit of a scrappy period of the game with both teams trying, unsuccessfully, to launch counter-attacks. Not a huge amount of quality on show in the attacking third from either team so far, with David's early opener the only exception.
Panama are back on the attack after a brilliant tackle from Barcenas to get his team moving forward. He slips the ball down the line but Canada manage to clear the ball to safety.

So nearly an equaliser for Panama!
Escobar struck the ball low and hard at goal and Canada captain Borjan had to be on his toes to parry the ball out. A Panama player nearly got to the rebound but Borjan smothered the ball in time.

Another look back at that Canada goal; that's the sort of quality that Jonathan David offers.
After scoring 26 times for Ligue 1 side Lille he comes into this tournament brimming with confidence and he was able to slide his finish between the legs of Mosquera.
Panama will have to change their style a bit not, can they adapt to the changing circumstance?

Canada are in front and it's Jonathan David who makes the difference!
An inch-perfect pass, a sight on goal, and a cool finish. Canada take the lead in Las Vegas.
Late challenge from Barcenias on Kone, scything down the Canada midfielder on the halfway line. The former Watford player goes down clutches his ankle and his side win the free kick.
Panama midfielder Adelberto Carrasquilla has impressed in the opening stages with some neat touches. He is always available to receive the ball in front of the defence and has sparked Panamanian attacks on two occasions.
He is currently contracted to MLS side Houston Dynamo but has not featured yet this season, despite playing 22 times in 2022.
Canada clear the corner and are back on the attack. Eustaquio looks to play a clever ball over the top to find Jonathan David but the Panama keeper is there to clear up the danger.
Brilliant play from Carrasquilla to skip through the challenges in the midfielder, firing a pass out wide to Barcenas on the right flank. He takes a touch and looks to play the ball back to Carrasquilla but the ball is intercepted and cleared for a corner.
A bit of a lull in action as Canada wrestle back control of the ball. Both managers will be fairly happy with how the first quarter of an hour has gone at the Allegiant Stadium.
Great feet from Barcenas in the middle of the pitch to skip away from a Canadian challenge. Panama have looked the more comfortable on the ball in the opening ten minutes but haven't yet been able to conjure an opportunity to strike on goal
Canada have the chance to deliver with a free kick out wide. Eustaquio curls the ball in with his left foot but it's claimed by the Panama goalkeeper.

A hopeful long ball finds Canadian full back Adekugbe as he charges into the Panama box. His first touch if good but his second is not, and his weak right-footed effort is easily saved by Mosquera.
An underwhelming attempt but good play from John Herdman's side.
A reminder, this semi-final clash between Panama and Canada will be decided on the night.
If it's a draw at the end of the 90 minutes, we go to extra time and maybe even penalties.
It's a tense start in Las Vegas as both sides look to figure the other out. Panama are dominating the ball in the opening stages but seem content to play it around the defence at them moment.

Here's what Canada head coach said about his side's disappointing World Cup campaign, but insisted that they have already bounced back with recent performances.
