Paul Pogba pays initial €100,000 to his blackmailers
According to RMC Sport, the midfielder paid a large amount of money to avoid trouble, however, his blackmailers want €13 million.
The Paul Pogba affair, launched this week by his brother Mathias on social media and confirmed by several French media outlets, doesn’t appear to be finding a speedy solution. After claims on Sunday about witchcraft curses to injure Kylian Mbappé, we have since had reports that the Juventus midfielder has already paid an amount of 100,000 euros (€1=$1) to his blackmailers.
Pogba extortion payment not satisfactory
According to RMC Sport, Pogba paid this initial amount to the criminals, who have stalked him for several months, to try to calm the waters. Not satisfied with said payment, the extortionists, his childhood friends according to various French media, are demanding €13 million from him, as confirmed by the former Manchester United player in a hearing that took place on 9 August.
Millions demanded “for being friends”
The payment of €100,000 was a tactic used by Pogba to try to gain more time so that these threats would not affect him on the pitch. The criminal gang that has intimidated him, of which his brother Mathias Pogba appears to be a key member, is demanding the payment of €13 million for what they say are “services rendered” as friends for many years and for having guaranteed him the safety as a soccer player.
According to the footballer’s defense, it is false that Pogba hired the services of a witch doctor to injure and intimidate Kylian Mbappé. The French international acknowledged to the French justice that everything is part of a strategy orchestrated by his brother to discredit him. In procedural terms, the Paris prosecutor’s office has decided to act ex officio and has already opened an investigation to clarify the facts.
