Pep Guardiola has spoken about Erling Haaland ahead of Manchester City’s Premier League match with Burnley on Wednesday.

“[Haaland] First time he is back,” said Guardiola in a press conference on Tuesday. “We have all the squad, we are stronger. He is an important player for us.”

Haaland has been sidelined for several weeks but could now be set to feature at the Etihad for the first time in 2024.

Haaland’s season

The 23-year-old has scored 19 goals for the club this term before he suffered a foot injury in early December. The Norwegian marksman returned to training earlier this month and is likely to be included in the matchday squad for City’s upcoming match with Burnley.

Guardiola added: “He has been two months out, it is a long time, but he feels good. We have to train this afternoon but apparently tomorrow he will be with all of us.

“The most important news is almost all of the squad is fit. We don’t have injuries. [Akanji] is back, training well, he doesn’t feel his knee. John [Stones] as well.”

Good environment at City

Guardiola also answered questions over whether he would consider following in Jurgen Klopp’s footsteps by leaving City.

“I have everything a manager could dream of,” he said. “We changed a lot of players in seven years, but all of them have been incredibly supportive. Good environment. I have everything. I feel good and of course one day it is going to finish but I don’t think about that now.”

Man City vs Burnley

City head into Wednesday’s clash five points off Premier League leaders Liverpool, with a game in hand. Burnley, on the other hand, sit in 19th place as they continue to struggle in their first season back in the top flight. Former City defender and Clarets coach, Vincent Kompany, will be aiming to cause an upset in Manchester.
