Pity on Cristiano Ronaldo: “a lot is said about him, he’s different”

The Argentine coincided with the Portuguese star at Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, and was keen to defend the superstar.

“I take my off hat to him,” was the phrase Pity Martínez used to express his admiration for former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo. The Argentine striker had a very special few months alongside the Portuguese star during his time at Al Nassr, before the Guaymallén native returned to his homeland to play once again for River Plate.

“Humble” Ronaldo gets Pity praise

“He’s different. He’s proven to be a great person. I take off my hat to him because a lot is said about him, and he’s different. Nothing like what people say, he’s very humble. He places himself at our level, never above. Living with him is different. He’s extremely competitive, pushes the limits, and can make mistakes. But he’s a great person, and what he has won, he won by himself. He also faced adversities and overcame them all.”

Pity also spoke about the off-field Cristiano Ronaldo.

“It was a pleasure to have spent time with him because he really is great. He’s a great person. It will remain a memory for the rest of my life, he showed himself to be a great person. Sharing the dressing room with this beast was something beautiful,” he concluded.

Pity in the SPL

The Argentine winger did not have the best experience in Saudi Arabia, as he suffered a ligament tear that kept him out of action for many months. For this reason, the Saudi club decided not to count on him for the 2023 season. Since his arrival in Asian football in mid-2020, Pity played 49 matches, scoring 13 goals and providing 10 assists.

In three years, he missed 45 due to injury and was not selected on 15 occasions. In summary, Pity Martínez spent more time off the field than on it. However, he did form good relationships, like the one with Cristiano Ronaldo.
