Club América host Necaxa in a match where Las Águilas need a victory to silence the doubters. Fernando Ortíz’s men have not been convincing in the early stages of the Clausura 2023 tournament, drawing four games and registered only one victory, against Mazatlán. As a result, Ortiz is expected to make changes for today’s game at the Estadio Azteca.

Rodríguez for Zendejas?

In attack, the Argentine coach is forced to make a change to the side that began the 2-2 draw with Santos Laguna a week ago, due to the injury suffered by Alejandro Zendejas. The Mexico winger will be out of action for at least three weeks, and Brian Rodríguez - a recent arrival from MLS - is in line to deputise for him against Necaxa.

Reyes for Cáceres?

In defence, where América have struggled the most in the Clausura 2023, another change is anticipated. After his performance against Santos, Sebastián Cáceres may well be replaced in the line-up by Israel Reyes, one of the two signings made by the 13-time Mexican champions for this tournament.

América’s possible line-up vs Necaxa:

Goalkeeper: Óscar Jiménez.

Defence: Emilio Lara, Israel Reyes, Nestor Araujo and Salvador Reyes.

Midfield: Richard Sánchez, Álvaro Fidalgo, Diego Valdés.

Attack: Jonathan Rodríguez, Brian Rodríguez and Henry Martin.
