The 2022/23 Premier League season will begin in early August due to the World Cup taking place this winter.

The new 2022/23 Premier League season will begin on August 6/7, one week earlier than the 2021/22 season.

Due to the 2022 World Cup taking place this winter, the Premier League will take a break in the middle of the season.

When does the World Cup begin?

Matchday 16 fixtures have been scheduled for the weekend of November 12/13. This set of fixtures will be the final round of matches before the World Cup commences in Qatar on 21 November 2022.

The World Cup final will take place on 18 December, with the Premier League returning to action just over a week later on 26 December.

When does the 2022/23 Premier League season end?

The Premier League season will conclude on 28 May 2023. Current champions Manchester City will be hoping to retain their title going into the new campaign.

When are the Premier League fixtures released?

The Premier League fixtures for the 2022/23 season will be released at 9:00 am (BST) on Thursday 16 June.

What teams have been promoted to the Premier League for 2022/23?

Fulham, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest have all returned to the Premier League from the Championship.

Forest, European Cup winners in 1979 and 1980, will play top-flight football next season for the first time in 23 years.

Norwich City, Watford and Burnley have been relegated from the Premier League to the Championship.

When does the summer transfer window open?

Premier League clubs will officially be able to register new players from Friday 10 June.

The summer transfer window closes on Thursday 1 September.
