On Friday LAFC announced the signing of Polish midfielder Mateusz Bogusz from Leeds United of the Premier League.

The 21-year-old signs on a contract until 2026, with the option to extend for another year. The young attacking midfielder made just three appearances for Leeds but has spent much of the past three years on loan in the Spanish second division. Before loan stints in Spain, Bogusz first caught the eye for Ruch Chorzow in Poland.

LAFC welcome “dynamic and exciting attacker”

LAFC Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington was full of praise for Bogusz on Friday when the signing was confirmed with a club statement.

“Mateusz is a talented young player with great ability who will provide another quality piece to our Club,” said Thorrington. “He is a dynamic and exciting attacker who has the ability to help our group in our ambitions to win more trophies. I am excited to welcome Mateusz to Los Angeles.”

Bogusz joined Leeds United in 2019 and won the PDL Northern League and the National Professional Development League with the Under-23 team. In August 2019, he made his official debut with the first team in an EFL Cup match and later went on loan to Unión Deportiva Logroñés for the remainder of the 2020/21 season, where he played 23 games.

The following season he went on loan to UD Ibiza, registering 6 goals and 5 assists in just over 2,500 minutes played.

The 21-year-old midfielder will need to wait for his International Transfer Certificate to be processed before being able to debut with Steve Cherundolo’s team in MLS. He will join a talented LAFC side who currently occupy the third position in the Western Conference with 10 points in 4 games.
