Paris Saint-Germain have a plan for Xavi Simons. The Dutchman left the Parc des Princes in 2022 to sign a five-year deal with PSV but the Ligue 1 outfit intend to pay more than the €12m that could see him return to Paris this summer.

This was revealed in October by PSV sporting director Marcel Brands and confirmed again by ESPN. As ESPN reports, the French club would pay a €4m transfer bonus for the player and another €4m to his agent, Rafaela Pimenta, to convince them.

Tough deal for PSG

In recent weeks, Simons’ decision not to return to Paris has been reported. According to L’Équipe in France, the 19-year-old would favour a different move. The Dutch international is aware that a return to the French capital would not guarantee him a starting place, so he would only return if he is guaranteed game time. The Parisian side, meanwhile, are mulling over his transfer, although the chances of it materialising are slim.

The talented player has found his place at PSV under head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy. At 19, he is finding consistency and his progression is coming to fruition. The numbers speak for themselves: 13 goals and 7 assists in the Eredivisie (in 26 games). In all competitions, he has 16 goals and eight assists this season.

Simons is not willing to let everything he has achieved this season go to waste by returning to PSG and not having a starting place.
