Pulisic lauds Lionel Messi: “He always creates magic on the field”
Christian Pulisic did not hold back on the compliments for Messi after his late goal gave Inter Miami the win in the Leagues Cup.
Pulisic is ready to start a new stage in his career with AC Milan in Serie A. After having a stop-start time with Chelsea in the English Premier League, the American attacker will, along with Rafa Leão, lead a new generation of youngsters at the Italian club.
The North American is currently in the United States for the tour that his new club have organised, where this Sunday they will face Real Madrid. However, despite being focused on the preseason duel, the hero of the national team also took time out to praise MLS’s newest recruit, Lionel Messi, after the goal he scored against Cruz Azul in his debut with Inter Miami.
‘Of course it had to happen that way’
‘Messimania’ has already arrived in the United States and the free-kick goal scored by the world champion is something that shocked many watching - but not the American striker. Pulisic said that what the Argentine star does is no longer surprising to him, although he did admit that Messi continues to excite him in the same way as always.
“It’s one of those moments where you say, of course it had to happen that way. It’s not really something that surprises you anymore. It is what he has shown us in the past, for the last decade, even more. What he has accomplished, what he continues to do. Everything he has achieved, finally winning the World Cup and then coming in like that, with all the stars watching him play, and him coming in and scoring like that, it really doesn’t surprise me anymore.” Pulisic acknowledged in an interview with Bleacher Report.
Pulisic says people will be excited by Messi in the USA
Despite being a Real Madrid fan since he was a child, the leader of the country's Stars and Stripes team recognized the great talent of the former Barcelona and PSG player and was excited that he will now be playing on North American soil.
“It’s still special to watch him play. He always creates magic on the field. So having him play in this country is very exciting and I know a lot of people are excited about that” added the striker, who also praised the goal the Argentine scored by acknowledging that “it’s not easy to score a goal like that at the last minute. I’m sure it’s something he’s practiced over and over again, he’s so used to the big moments and for him it’s probably nothing.”
