Pulisic looking to extend superb record against Liverpool
The USMNT icon has a fantastic record against Liverpool and will look to extend his good form against the Reds in the Champions League.
Christian Pulisic has not only solidified his status as the star of the USMNT, but he has also become a key figure for AC Milan since last season, finishing as the team’s second-highest scorer behind Olivier Giroud.
The American forward has consistently threatened the opponent’s goal; with Giroud’s departure, Pulisic will now play an even more crucial role in Paulo Fonseca’s project, sharing the responsibility of leading the attack along with Rafael Leão, Samu Chukwueze and Álvaro Morata.
What is Pulisic’s record against Liverpool?
As the Champions League begins, Pulisic has the chance to face Liverpool once again. However, this will mark his first time doing so in a Rossoneri shirt, where he’ll be looking to score as he has with his previous teams.
During his time at Chelsea, he faced Liverpool six times, scoring two goals and providing two assists in Premier League and European Super Cup matches. With Borussia Dortmund, he faced them twice in a friendly, scoring two more goals. In total, Pulisic has played against Liverpool eight times, scoring four goals and assisting two.
In the UEFA Champions League, Pulisic spent three seasons with Dortmund, making 22 appearances and scoring two goals. At Chelsea, he played three seasons, getting five goals in 26 matches. Now in his second season with AC Milan, the upcoming match against Liverpool will be his seventh appearance for the club in the competition, where he’ll be looking to score his third goal for the Rossoneri.
AC Milan will take on Liverpool in the new-look Champions League, where the group stage has been replaced by a league system. Each team has been given games against 8 opponents, either home or away, and the number of points they accumulate will determine where they finish in the 36-team table.
The Champions League matchday-one clash between the two historic sides will be played at the famous San Siro stadium in Milan, Italy, on Tuesday September 17, 2024. It’s scheduled to get underway at 3:00 p.m. ET/12 noon PT.
