Pumas boss Juárez out to settle score against Jardine’s América
In a heavyweight Liga MX matchup this weekend, Pumas host Club América at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario.

Almost two years have passed since Pumas last managed to make home-field advantage count at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario against Club América.
That victory came in the Liga MX Clausura 2024, when Los Universitarios hosted Las Águilas on Matchday 16. On that occasion, Pumas earned a 2-1 win with strikes from Ulises Rivas and Leonardo Suárez, while Henry Martín pulled one back for América.
A difficult stretch for Pumas
Since that April 2024 meeting, Pumas have ceded the upper hand to América. Following that match, the rivals have squared off three more times - and América have come out on top in two out of three.
Of that trio of contests, two were played at América’s home ground, while just one took place back at Ciudad Universitaria. In that Clausura 2025 matchup, Los Felinos fell 2-0.
Another key storyline is the control André Jardine has exerted since taking over América’s bench. Under his tenure, América and Pumas have met five times in regular‑season play, with three wins for Las Águilas and two for Los Universitarios.

Juárez aims to even the scales
Now, Pumas head coach Efraín Juárez is looking to rewrite the recent history. A victory over América wouldn’t just snap the negative streak - it would also level his head‑to‑head record against Jardine’s teams.
