Pumas are locked into their Clausura 2026 quarterfinal run — with the decisive second leg against América coming up this Sunday — but the front office is already working behind the scenes to strengthen the squad for next season. Pumas have sights set on Calero

According to TUDN reporter Humberto Torres, Pumas are close to finalizing a deal for Juan José Calero, son of legendary goalkeeper Miguel Calero. The 27‑year‑old striker, born in Colombia and also a Mexican national, came up through Pachuca’s youth system and has built a strong résumé in the Liga de Expansión.

Over the past year, Calero played 28 matches for Venados de Mérida, scoring 22 goals in the Liga de Expansión. After debuting with Pachuca in Liga MX in 2015, he spent time with León and Mineros de Zacatecas before finding his stride in Mérida.

Calero’s breakout came in the Apertura 2025, where he delivered the best campaign of his career:
