WORLD CUP 2022
Qatar 2022 World Cup daily schedule: who plays today, 10 December?
It’s the quarter final stage at FIFA’s showpiece tournament and some of the globe’s elite stars are preparing to shine brightly.
As we reach the end of the third week at the 2022 World Cup we will soon have our semi-final line-up confirmed. Since the opener between hosts Qatar and Ecuador, a total of 60 games have come and gone, with plenty of surprises along the way and we already know the identities of the two nations making up the first of those semis.
Now there are just six games remaining (yes, there is a play-off between the two losing semi-finalists to decide who gets third place, often of less interest to players but more so for fans in a sweepstake!), and two of them will be taking place today, Saturday 10 December.
What’s the situation in the World Cup quarter-finals?
Education City Stadium was our first venue on Friday as Croatia shocked the world by overcoming tournament favourites Brazil. The European side had to wait to well into extra time before getting their first shot on target, but that strike counted and levelled the game after Neymar had made history shortly before. The penalty ‘lottery’ saw the end of the samba boys.
That was followed by another penalty shootout at the Lusail Stadium, arrived at after an incredible post-stoppage-time, in extra time free-kick cleverly worked into a goal by the Netherlands tied things up at 2-2. Argentina couldn’t believe it -- Lionel Messi pointing some fingers afterwards -- but went on to survive the spot kicks.
So to today’s action, and there’s a lot to get excited about given what we’ve seen from these teams so far:
