Argentine midfielder Ramiro Carrera has managed to break ties with Cruz Azul after reaching an agreement to terminate his contract. On Tuesday, he was able to successfully complete his transfer to Lanús. The 30-year-old midfielder joined the Liga MX club on a three-year deal in November 2022 - that contract, valid until December 2025 was ripped up allowing the player to further his career back home in Argentina.

Carrera, who had spent the last six months on loan at Atlético Tucumán, has successfully passed a medical revision with Lanús. Now, all that remains is for him to sign his new contract to completely formalize the transfer.

Offers from Argentina and Peru

The attacking midfielder received proposals from several Argentine clubs, including San Lorenzo, Huracán and Argentinos Juniors - the latter, one of six Argentinean clubs taking part in this year’s Copa Libertadores. In addition, a couple of Peruvian clubs: Alianza Lima and Universitario also expressed an interest in the player.

During his brief time at Cruz Azul, Carrera had limited involvement. He played a subsidiary role in the Clausura 2023 - making a total of 10 appearances including three starts and accumulating just 267 minutes on the pitch.
