Raúl Jiménez is in a state of grace, and his club knows it. Fulham reported on the goals that the former América player contributed in Mexico’s two friendly matches during this month’s international break. Jiménez scored a penalty against Australia, pulling a goial back for El Tri when they were down 2-0. Jaime Lozano’s team were back level when César Huerta made it 2-2 with four minutes remaining.

Yesterday against Uzbekistan, Raúl Jiménez was on target again, scoring twice in the 3-3 draw. It was his first brace for the Tricolor in almost four years (since the Nations League qualifier against Panama in November 2020). He also played a decisive role in the third goal, scored by Uriel Antuna.

Fulham focused on Jiménez’s “predatory instincts” for the first goal, and his ability to “finish intelligently in the second.”

Closing in on Mexico’s Top 5 all-time scorers

Jiménez is now just two goals away from entering the list of top scorers in the history of the national team. With his two strikes against Uzbekistan he is now on 33 goals, two below Carlos Hermosillo.

He will have a couple of chances to make his way into the top 5 next month when Mexico take on Ghana and Germany in two more friendlies before November’s crunch Nations League quarter final, against a rival yet to be determined.
