Update:

For days now, reports have suggested that Sergio Ramos will not remain with Monterrey’s Rayados once his contract expires at the end of this year. On that topic, José Antonio Noriega, the club’s sporting president, has finally broken his silence.

No word from Ramos on exit, Noriega says

“Tato” spoke to the media at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes after Monterrey clinched a spot in the Apertura 2025 semifinals. When asked about Ramos, he simply stated that nothing is certain and the club has not been informed that the player intends to leave.

“We don’t know anything for certain,” Noriega said. “We’ve been talking for some time, but there’s been no communication either way on that matter. We’re in discussions.”

Reports out of Spain claim Ramos is looking for a new challenge in soccer. Retirement isn’t on his mind yet, but he’s thought to be unlikely to stay with Rayados after nearly a year wearing their jersey - he joined in February of this year.

Ramos and Rayados to lift Liga MX title?

Since his arrival in Liga MX, the defender has taken the Monterrey captain’s armband and strengthened the back line, while also contributing his trademark scoring touch despite playing as a center back.

He hasn’t lifted a trophy yet, but Monterrey is still in the hunt for the Apertura 2025 title. They’ve booked a last-four berth - with their opponent still to be determined - after knocking out Club América in the quarterfinals with a 3-2 aggregate score.
