Rayados reinforce the squad as Tecatito comes ‘home’

Jesús Corona is back at Monterrey. After spells with Twente, FC Porto and Sevilla the Mexico international is back in Liga MX.

It’s official, Jesús Corona is back in Liga MX and returns to Monterrey, the team where he broke through as a player and where his performances subsequently propelled a move to Holland.

After a long day day of prolonged negotiations, Sevilla and Rayados finally reached an agreement which sees the 30-year-old return to Mexico.

After triumphing in Europe, Jesús Tecatito Corona returns on a permanent transfer to Monterrey” posted the club on their Twitter account as they announced the winger’s return to Liga MX.

European experience

Tecatito moved to the Netherlands in 2013 and at Twente Enschede, he was selected as part of the Best XI of the 2014-2015 season in the Eredivisie, the top flight of Dutch football.

In 2015, Corona moved to FC Porto where he won three Primeira Liga titles, two Cups and two Super Cups, and was voted the Best Player of the 2019-2020 season.

Corona won the 2015 Gold Cup with Mexico and participated at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and has won more than 70 caps with El Tri.

Injury ruled him out of participating with Tata Martino’s side at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
