Ancelotti may be ready to unleash Brazil’s newest weapon against Scotland

Raphinha’s injury is the only issue that has disrupted Brazil’s otherwise settled World Cup campaign. Victory over Haiti restored calm after the criticism that followed the draw against Morocco, and now Carlo Ancelotti is preparing what could be Brazil’s next major talking point of the tournament: Rayan.

The Italian coach has complete faith in one of the newest gems to emerge from Brazilian soccer, and it would come as little surprise if the Bournemouth forward is handed a place in the starting lineup as Brazil seek to secure top spot in the group, with Morocco providing indirect competition for first place.

The 19-year-old right winger fits the profile increasingly favored in the modern game – powerful, fast, and physically imposing at nearly 6-foot-3. His combination of strength and acceleration makes him a difficult opponent to contain. Bournemouth moved quickly when Rayan began attracting attention at Vasco da Gama, paying around $33 million for his signature. His market value has already risen significantly since then.

Ancelotti may be ready to unleash Brazil’s newest weapon against Scotland

Ancelotti knows he has two of the most exciting young players at the World Cup in Rayan and Endrick. He has carefully managed their minutes throughout the tournament, but there is a growing sense that the time has come for the former Vasco da Gama prospect to take center stage. A first World Cup start appears increasingly difficult to ignore.

Another player who could make his tournament debut is Neymar. The veteran forward has impressed the coaching staff with his attitude, consistently showing a willingness to help both the manager and his teammates. After waiting patiently on the sidelines, he may finally get his first minutes of this World Cup.

Scotland, meanwhile, must improve considerably on the performance it produced against Morocco if it hopes to take anything positive from its trip to Miami, where Scottish supporters have turned the city into a sea of kilts.

Against Brazil, the Scots’ primary objective may be damage limitation. Avoiding a heavy defeat against Vinicius Junior and company could prove crucial in the race to finish among the best third-placed teams. With three points already secured thanks to victory over Haiti, Scotland may still have a realistic path to the knockout stage, but it will need a much stronger display against one of the tournament favorites.
