Real Madrid confirm Marc Cucurella signing: One detail stands out

Marc Cucurella is officially the first signing of José Mourinho’s new-look Real Madrid under reelected club president Florentino Pérez.
The Spain international has completed his move from Chelsea and signed a six-year contract that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabéu through June 30, 2032. The length of the deal underlines how much faith Mourinho and Madrid have in the defender.
“Real Madrid C. F. and Chelsea FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Marc Cucurella, who will be linked to our club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032.” the club said in an official statement.
Premier League star returns to Spain
The 26-year-old left back arrives in Madrid after an outstanding spell in the Premier League, where he established himself as one of Europe’s best players at his position.
A product of Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy, Cucurella now returns to LaLiga wearing Real Madrid’s colors. He is expected to strengthen Mourinho’s squad with his versatility, relentless defensive work rate, and ability to contribute in the attack.
A long-term investment
Real Madrid views Cucurella as a key piece of its long-term project. According to the club’s official announcement, the defender has signed a six-year deal that runs through June 30, 2032.
Cucurella has already completed his medical examinations and will report to Mourinho after the World Cup.
