REAL MADRID FEMENINO

Real Madrid goalkeeper Misa and her record against FC Barcelona

The Canarian goalkeeper will, once again, take on the might of FC Barcelona, the team that has scored the most goals against her: 42 in 11 matches played.

Misa Rodríguez meets her worst enemy once again. The Real Madrid goalkeeper will try to keep a clean sheet for the first time in her career against Barcelona. Despite the player usually being one of the stronger performers against the Catalans, she has picked the ball out of her goal 42 times in the eleven games she has played against the team.

Her first match against Barcelona was in a Deportivo shirt and on that occasion she conceded six goals in 90 minutes. Before that experience, Misa had been involved in previous clashes only on the bench, such as a cup game against Barça that ended 1-0 and also once when she was at Atlético Madrid.

Real Madrid’s record against Barcelona

The rest of the ten games in which she has faced the blaugrana have been with Real Madrid, which she joined in the 2020-21 season, the first season of the club’s short history. She has conceded 36 goals in the ten games of the Champions League, Super Cup, Copa de la Reina and Liga F against them, as Barcelona have already crossed paths with Real Madrid in all competitions.

Barça have scored five goals against her on two occasions: once in the league (5-0) and once in the Champions League quarter-finals last season (5-2). Four goals have been let in four times: three in the league (0-4, 0-4 and 4-1) and once in the Copa de la Reina (4-0). As well as this, she has conceded three in three separate matches: once in the Champions League (1-3), another in the Super Cup (3-1 after extra time) and another in the league (1-3).

The 'good' news for Misa is that Alexia won't feature, as she is still continuing with her recovery.

Alexia made the difference last year

Only in last year’s Super Cup did she come within minutes of keeping a mythical clean sheet against Barça, but in added time, Alexia made it 1-0, giving the Catalans the win and leaving the goalkeeper without a reward in what was a great game from a personal perspective - she was Madrid’s best player without a doubt. In a white shirt, she has an average of 3.6 goals conceded per game against the club (36 goals in ten games played).

On Saturday, Misa wants to stop the red and blue bleeding, although she knows that at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, things will be very difficult. Barcelona have won all their matches at their stadium since their debut there in 2019 and have scored a staggering 335 goals at their stadium, with huge wins like the 9-0 against Benfica or the 9-1 against Tacón never far away. It is, very rarely for the away side, a happy place to go.
