Real Madrid injury update ahead of Valencia in LaLiga
Real Madrid are without some important figures against Valencia in LaLiga.
In an indirect sense, Real Madrid’s attention remains on Valencia, as the club continued their training amidst uncertain circumstances that raise serious doubts about the upcoming match (Saturday November 2, with kick off at 4:00p.m. ET / 1:00 p.m. PT).
The club has stated that it will fully support any decisions made regarding the situation, and Valencia is considering requesting a postponement of the match. In the meantime, the Madrid team has expressed complete solidarity with Valencia’s stance.
After observing a minute of silence, training resumed. This session could be summed up in two main objectives: if the match proceeds as scheduled, Rüdiger is accelerating his recovery to be ready, while Rodrygo, despite resuming light ball training, isn’t expected to play. While one player eyes Mestalla, the other is focused on a potential comeback in Milan.
Rodrygo injury update
Rodrygo’s recovery has been promising, and he’s now on track within the most optimistic timelines. He missed the Clásico due to a muscle tear in his biceps femoris, sustained against Dortmund. The injury occurred after a sprint in the 83rd minute when Rodrygo managed to save the ball, setting up a successful pass to Lucas Vázquez, who then scored the third goal.
Following that play, he felt pain, signalled for a substitution, and, after an MRI, was given an estimated recovery period of two to three weeks—about 20 days. Fourteen days have passed since the 5-2 win over their German opponents, keeping him on schedule for the upcoming tie against Milan (Tuesday November 5, 3:00 p.m. ET / 12:00 p.m. PT).
Meanwhile, Rüdiger, fatigued after a season of nearly continuous play, is focusing on his recovery after struggling through the Clásico with discomfort. This season, he has rested for only 83 minutes. He managed to finish the game against Barcelona, despite noticeable fatigue, but showed signs of strain the following day.
Although feared to be injured, Rüdiger’s condition has been diagnosed as severe fatigue in his left leg. Today, like Rodrygo, he worked through specific exercises to support his recovery, with hopes to be fit for Mestalla if the match goes forward. His potential return would be a welcome boost for the team.
In his absence, Ancelotti has been training Tchouaméni as a central defender alongside Militão, an option that remains open even if Rüdiger is cleared, as Ancelotti may want to ease him back into full play. Valencia could be a good testing ground, especially with Milan on the horizon.
