Real Madrid injury update: Arda Güler should be ready to play in 2024
The Turkish midfielder is yet to make his debut for Real Madrid, which should come in 2024.
Real Madrid are into the final week of LaLiga for 2023. They will host Villarreal (Sunday, 3:00 p.m. ET / 12: 00 p.m. PT.) before travelling to Vitoria to face Alavés (Thursday, 3.30 p.m. ET / 12.30 p.m. PT.). Here is the latest injury update on the squad:
The big news ahead of the double-header is the return of Tchouaméni, who completed the entire training session with the group ahead of the weekend.
If there are no setbacks, he will be in Ancelotti’s squad for Sunday. The French midfielder was injured during the Clásico, which took place last October at Montjuïc. He suffered a stress fracture in the second metatarsal of the left foot that has kept him sidelined until now.

When will Arda Güler return for Real Madrid?
Arda Güler will be absent for the game, as it has been decided that the young player will be reserved for 2024. The midfielder is still training alone and is not likely to be included in the last two squads chosen by Carlo Ancelotti. Güler has had bad luck with injuries and given both the nerves and desire for him to wear the white shirt for the first time, care will be taken regarding his return.
Relapses have cut short the joy that has been interspersed between his time on the sidelines. For both the medical and technical staff, there is no hurry in the recovery of the player: they believe that he needs to take things easy in order to be able to come back at full capacity next month, when the Super Cup and the Copa del Rey will be high on the club agenda.
Güler’s Real Madrid injury history
It should be remembered that Güler was first injured during Madrid’s American tour and when everything pointed to him having recovered, he relapsed in the training session prior to the match against Las Palmas (September 27). The midfielder felt a pain that has kept him out of the first team’s dynamic since then. After another month of recovery, everything seemed to show that he was fit to see minutes against Rayo and/or Sporting Braga in the Champions League. Alas, it was not to be.
He was called up to the squad, but did not even get the chance to leave the bench to warm up. Questions arose but they were answered after it was later revealed that he had suffered another relapse, getting injured again after suffering a small muscle tear in his right quadriceps, with an estimated recovery period of about a month.
Güler’s continuous relapses put Dr. Mihic, head of Madrid’s medical services, in the spotlight with the Turkish player’s continuous physical discomfort soon leading to the Croatian doctor’s dismissal.
Real Madrid squad injury update:
Carvajal will also be absent (he continues to work on his own and is unlikely to be fit for Sunday). The other injured players, Camavinga and Vinicius, are progressing well, but there is no expected date for their return.
Both the Frenchman and the Brazilian partially trained outside, the former with a bandage on his right leg. Camavinga is improving, but is not expected to return until after the Spanish Super Cup. As for the Brazilian, he too is expected to be fit by the start of 2024.
Real Madrid’s next game is against Villarreal and will be played on Sunday December 17, with kick off at 3:00 p.m. ET / 12: 00 p.m. PT.
