With just over 48 hours until the visit to the Metropolitano, uncertainty lingers in the Spanish capital. The countdown to the derby for 21-year-old Camavinga begins tomorrow, Saturday, when it will be determined whether he is part of Ancelotti’s plans for Sunday’s clash between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.

On both Thursday and Friday, the French midfielder trained partially with the group, still sporting a bandage on his lower knee. However, he has yet to fully rejoin the team’s activities. The final decision on his availability won’t come until tomorrow.

Will Mbappé play for Real Madrid against Atlético Madrid?

Ancelotti mentioned before the LaLiga match against Alavés that Camavinga was set to resume training with the team in preparation for the derby. The plan has been to gradually increase the workload for the player over three days, with Saturday marking the final assessment. Camavinga, along with the coaching staff and medical team, will make a decision on his condition to determine his participation.

Camavinga is nearing the end of his recovery timeline. After spraining his left knee just before the European Super Cup, his return was projected to take six to seven weeks. The six-week mark was reached last Tuesday, leaving his status as the only unresolved issue for Ancelotti ahead of Sunday’s derby.

Four players are confirmed to be out: Brahim, Alaba, and Ceballos. Carvajal, who was rested by Ancelotti in the match against Alavés after picking up a knock against Espanyol, has rejoined group training. Kylian Mbappé will be out for 3 weeks and will miss the derbi madrileño.
