Real Madrid injury update before Rayo Vallecano: Arda Güler, Mendy, Tchouaméni...
Los Blancos welcomed back their Turkish delight after yet another injury setback. Will he play against Rayo?
Real Madrid are set to take on Rayo Vallecano at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu on Sunday 5 November (kick off at 4 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. PT.) and it seems that Carlo Ancelotti cannot shake off the injury list that has followed him round since the beginning of the season.
However, ahead of the game, Carlo Ancelotti has welcomed back one player in particular to his squad: Arda Güler. The Turkish midfielder has been absent since his first injury way back during Madrid’s pre-season tour of the USA but he has finally returned to training ahead of the clash against Los Blancos’ local rivals. He took part in Real Madrid’s session at the start of the week and everything points to him being included in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for the game at the weekend.
Will Mendy play vs Rayo?
Real Madrid go into the game against Rayo Vallecano in fine form: they beat Barcelona in El Clásico thanks to a couple of goals from Jude Bellingham and before that they maintained their 100% record in the Champions League with an away win over Braga, who they play next week. Welcoming back Güler to the side, someone who has not featured at all this season, would be a huge plus for the squad looking to continue their positive vein of form.
Ferland Mendy is another player who has struggled with injury concerns since his arrival in Madrid, and it appears that the curse has struck again. The defender was unable to finish the game against Barcelona, coming off in the second half for Eduardo Camavinga, and he was also not able to take part in Madrid’s midweek training session, instead being forced to spend the time with Dani Ceballos in the recovery room. He is however, like Arda, looking towards being available for Sunday’s match day squad.
Tchouaméni injury update
Aurélien Tchouaméni suffered a stress fracture in his foot during the game against Barcelona and will join Militão and Courtois on the long-term absentee list. “After the tests carried out on Aurélien Tchouameni by the Real Madrid Medical Services, the player has been diagnosed with an incomplete stress fracture in the second metatarsal of the left foot. His progress is to be monitored”, read the club statement on the issue and now it seems that the Frenchman will miss around six to eight weeks, the usual time for a recovery of this type of common injury.
It’s not all doom and gloom at Madrid’s Valdebebas training ground: Vinicius Jr won the Socrates award while Jude Bellingham picked up the Kopa Trophy. As well as this, Vini earned himself a new deal at the club that runs until 2027 while his compatriot Rodrygo will also sign a new extension which should keep him wearing white until 2028. This is just the start of the renewals, as Florentino Pérez and co. look to tie down their youngsters for the future.
