Real Madrid interested in Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard
The French defender could leave Bayern in the summer and Madrid are keeping an eye on the player’s situation.
The future of several Bayern Munich players is up in the air. The German giants are undergoing several changes with the sacking Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic and have several contract renewals on hold. In addition to Lucas Hernández, whose contract extension is on hold and who wants to play for PSG, Benjamin Pavard is another player who could leave Bavaria in the summer transfer window.
Real Madrid make contact for Pavard
The France international is attracting interest from a number of clubs, including Real Madrid, who, according to the 2018 World Cup winner’s entourage, made several approaches several weeks ago to enquire about the defender’s situation. Pavard, who has expressed his intentions to Bayern, including playing as a centre-back rather than a right-back, has taken some time to consider his future.
The reigning Bundesliga champions do, however, want to keep the defender. Pavard, like Lucas Hernández, is out of contract in 2024 and, should he not renew with the Bavarians, the club would be obliged to sell him to avoid the difficult situation of letting him leave on a free transfer next year.
Although there has been no offer as of today, Pavard is on the shortlist for Real Madrid’s defence. The French international can play both at centre-back and full-back and has been a key player at giants Bayern in recent years. The next few weeks are expected to be decisive in resolving his future, which is currently at a standstill.
