LALIGA
Real Madrid LaLiga schedule for 2023/2024
Carlo Ancelotti’s side started well last season before fading badly and will be desperate to reclaim the LaLiga title from Clásico rivals Barcelona.
2022/23 was a season that began with so much promise for Real Madrid but ended in so much disappointment. Los Blancos finished the season 10 points adrift of LaLiga champions Barcelona and were humbled in the Champions League semi-finals by eventual winners Manchester City. At least they got their hands on the Copa del Rey.
Bellingham in, Benzema out in Madrid
Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be desperate to wrestle domestic control back from the Catalans in 2023/24 and marquee summer signing Jude Bellingham will seriously bolster their midfield, although question marks remain over how they will replace the goals of Karim Benzema, who has left for a new life in the Saudi Pro League.
When are the 2023/24 LaLiga Clásicos?
Of course, the first fixtures we were all looking out for when the schedule was released were the two LaLiga Clásicos against Barça. They will come on matchday 11 on 29 October, when La Blaugrana will be hosting the 14-time European champions, and on matchday 32 on 21 April, at the home of Madrid.
When are the 2023/24 Madrid derbies?
The Madrid derby is always Los Merengues’ second-tastiest clash and they will be the away team in the first of them, which will be played on matchday six on 24 September. They will then host Atleti for the return meeting on matchday 23 on 4 February.
Other key fixtures: opening weekend, final game...
Other key dates to look out for are the opening weekend, which is due to start on Friday 11 August 2023, and the final round of the season scheduled for Sunday 26 May 2024, when the league title could be at stake (if we’re lucky).
Real Madrid will kick off the campaign with an away match against Athletic Club and will round things off by facing Real Betis at the Bernabéu.
LaLiga Christmas break returns
LaLiga reverts back to ‘normal’ after 2022/23 season, which had a long break in November and December because of the 2022 World Cup. That means there will be a short pause in proceedings between Thursday 21 December and Tuesday 2 January. Madrid’s final game before the Christmas break is on matchday 18 at Alavés, while they will restart LaLiga by hosting Real Mallorca.
