International Friendlies

This is Pochettino's 27-man USMNT roster for friendlies against Belgium and Portugal

The USMNT begin limbering up for this summer’s World Cup final with a couple of friendiy games against teams that will put Mauricio Pochettino’s men to the test and give the coach a clearer idea of the level his players are at.

Two top quality European rivals: Belgium, currently ninth in the FIFA world ranking and Portugal, ranked sixth - teams which the Stars and Stripes have faced several times in the past in both official and unofficial competition.

It will be the first time the USMNT have been in action since November’s games against Paraguay and Uruguay. Pochettino has named 27 players in his squad list, with a few changes to his last list. Notable omissions include: Sergiño Dest, Tyler Adams, Diego Luna and Haji Wright.

Poch has experimented heavily with his side over the past year - in the 18 games the USMNT played in 2025, 56 players earned at least one cap with Patrick Agyemang, Max Arfsten, Sebastian Berhalter, Alex Freeman and Matt Freese all making their senior debuts.

In this latest roster, only two players have yet to debut at senior level - Chris Brady and Roman Celentano. Both goalkeepers have appeared in the lower categories - this is Brady’s fourth call-up, Celentano has been included in four previous lists but remained on the bench each time.

Pochettino’s rotation

We have spent the last 18 months developing the player pool so we can be prepared to make the correct decisions for the World Cup roster, and this is another valuable opportunity,” Pochettino explained. “We must treat these games like they are a part of the World Cup, and what is most important is that the players bring the right mentality and commitment to the group.”

Players are expected to report for duty at the team’s camp in Atlanta on Sunday March 22.
