In Madrid’s only previous meeting with the official, they beat Galatasaray 6-0 on Matchday four of the group stage in the 2019-20 season.

Zwayer will referee the second leg of the Champions League last-16 tie between Madrid and Liverpool, which takes place at the Santiago Bernabéu, UEFA said on Monday.

Los Blancos lead 5-2 from the first leg at Anfield and will be confident of advancing to the quarter-finals of the competition with such a lead.

Taylor in charge

English official Anthony Taylor will referee Wednesday’s other Champions League match between Napoli and Eintracht Frankfurt at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Naples.

In Taylor’s most recent outing, he sent off Manchester United player Casemiro in United’s 0-0 draw with Southampton on Sunday.
