REAL MADRID
Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos annoyed by this season’s football shirt
The German said that football shirts with a collar, like Madrid’s this season, are not good to play in.
It’s not the first time the German has given his opinion on what he has to wear for work. If the 2019/20 home shirt, his favourite, sent him into a wild frenzy of beauty, this season’s edition is causing him to tear his hair out. The reason for his anger is quite a simple one: Kroos doesn’t like a football shirt with a collar on it and he hasn’t kept his feelings about it to himself, instead launching a message to the three stripes brand on the latest episode of his Einfach mal luppen podcast.
“This season we have a collar on the shirt. A polo shirt is not a football shirt”, said the German. “This is aimed at all brands: It’s a load of sh**! Collars on football shirts aren’t good, they’re uncomfortable and not pleasant. And then you have buttons there at the top. The only thing left is for them to add a few more and let’s play with an actual shirt, right? It’s not nice!”
‘I didn’t want to take it off. I knew they’d take it off me.’
If there is a shirt that he loves, it’s the home edition of the 2019/20 shirt that had gold stripes down the shoulders; Kroos still keeps them at home. “It is, by a long way, the most beautiful shirt I’ve played in”, he said. “The truth is that during the year I said to myself: we have to win something in this. If we don’t it’s a disgrace and a lack of respect to the shirt. Thank God we ended up winning the league that year. Sometimes, I didn’t even want to change out of it. I wanted to take it home, although I already had 60 of them, because I knew at some point they would take it off me.”
