Real Madrid have three of the four most valuable players in the world, according to CIES. Jude Bellingham tops the list of most expensive players, with Vinícius in third place and Rodrygo in fourth. Only Erling Haaland is among the three Madrid players.

Mbappé 27th

CIES estimates that the most expensive player in the world at the moment is Bellingham (20 years old), whose value is €267.5 million. Haaland is worth €251.2m, slightly more than the €250.3m of Vinícius (23) and the €247.9m of Rodrygo (23 today). Kylian Mbappé is 27th on the list, with a valuation of €106.2 million. CIES takes into account not only the age of the player and their ability, but also the length of their contract, and the PSG forward’s contract expires on 30 June. Ahead of Mbappé, there are two other Madrid players: Fede Valverde (25 years old, 12th, €140.7 million) and Eduardo Camavinga (21 years old, 15th, €132.7 million).

Madrid’s strategy

Five players, all under 25, are among the 15 most valuable players on the planet. And they all have contracts until at least 2027. Madrid’s strategy has been bearing fruit for some time. Valverde was signed for €5 million, Vinicius for 45, Rodrygo for 40, Camavinga for 30 and Bellingham, the most recent, for 103. In total, it is an investment of €223 million for five players now valued by CIES as a whole at €1,039.1 billion. It’s an all-star lineup with a common link: Juni Calafat. The Madrid chief scout has been fundamental in all the club’s operations, monitoring Valverde in Uruguay, scouring the Brazilian market, and proving fundamental in the task of convincing Camavinga and Bellingham.

In search of synergy

Now, the Brazilian pair and Bellingham are searching for synergy. Vinícius has not been at 100 per cent this season due to injuries and this has meant that his numbers are down (14 games, six goals and four assists). However, Bellingham (22 games, 17 goals and five) and Rodrygo (26, 11 and six), are in sensational form. In total, 34 goals and 15 assists have been registered by the trio.

Spanish Super Cup

When the season began, it was a triangle with Bellingham as the base and the Brazilian pair up front. The formation has since changed. Bellingham now occupies the left side of a line of four midfield players. Another test awaits them tomorrow when they take on Atlético Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup.
