Real Madrid travels to Cornellà-El Prat in search of three wins out of three. There are also a number of players missing that coach Carlo Ancelotti will haver to deal with as as he decides on his starting eleven for matchday three of the 2022/23 season in LaLiga. Nacho, Vallejo and Odriozola have not trained with the group this week due to various problems and they are not traveling with the squad.

Ancelotti’s starting side though will have few changes compared to the last match, in Vigo. The main change may lie in the presence of Rodrygo in the team in the position that Valverde has occupied in the first two league games. The Brazilian was unable to play in either of Madrid’s two opening Liga matches due to a slight injury to his thigh and Ancelotti expects the player from São Paulo to play a greater role this season. “He will have a bigger role, because he made the difference in a lot of games last year. This year he will start more games from the beginning”, said Carletto in his pre-match press conference.

Possible Real Madrid line-up for Espanyol game

Carlo Ancelotti’s possible team for Espanyol-Real Madrid

After the changes he experimented with on the first day in Almería, the Italian coach brought back what is thought to be close to his standard line-up in Balaídos and he’s expected to continue with that in the RCDE Stadium. The likely eleven the Real Madrid coach will start with against Espanyol is: Courtois; Carvajal, Militao, Alaba, Mendy; Modric, Tchouameni, Kroos; Rodrygo or Valverde, Benzema and Vinicius.

Ancelotti has included 21 players in the squad, so he will have 10 players for possible changes: Lunin, Luis López, Lucas Vázquez, Rüdiger, Camavinga, Ceballos, Valverde or Rodrygo, Asensio, Hazard and Mariano.

Only Courtois and Benzema have played all 270 minutes this season and a third, Valverde, who only missed the last quarter of an hour of the Super Cup, has completed 180 in the league.
