Real Madrid possible starting lineup vs Sevilla in LaLiga today

Kylian Mbappé is set to return to Madrid’s lineup after a turbulent week that included Barcelona’s title celebration and fan backlash at the Bernabéu.

Update:

Seville. Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. That will be the setting for Álvaro Arbeloa’s final away game as Real Madrid coach this season, and it arrives after one of the club’s most turbulent weeks of the campaign.

Madrid watched Barcelona clinch the LaLiga title after beating them 2-0 at Spotify Camp Nou, a painful moment made even harder by the fact that it happened right in front of them. The fallout that followed only intensified the tension surrounding the club.

President Florentino Pérez made two high-profile public appearances in the span of 48 hours, first in a press conference at Valdebebas and later in an interview with Spanish journalist Josep Pedrerol. Meanwhile, the mood at the Bernabéu turned sour during the win over Oviedo, with sections of the crowd booing players such as Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappé after the final whistle.

Now Madrid heads into another emotionally charged night knowing a victory in Seville could at least restore some calm to a squad that looks exhausted by the demands of the season’s closing stretch.

Mbappé returns with Golden Boot race on the line

The biggest change to Arbeloa’s starting lineup is expected to be the return of Mbappé, who is still chasing the Pichichi Trophy awarded to LaLiga’s top scorer.

The French star currently holds a two-goal lead over Mallorca’s Vedat Muriqi with two matches left in the season, making it the only major individual achievement still within reach for a Madrid player. Mbappé did not travel to Barcelona last week after learning he would begin the game on the bench. He later appeared as a second-half substitute against Oviedo and was met with loud whistles from parts of the home crowd.

Aside from Mbappé’s return, Madrid is expected to keep much of the same lineup that defeated Oviedo. Antonio Rüdiger should replace David Alaba in defense, while Jude Bellingham is set to come back into the starting XI in place of Franco Mastantuono.

On paper, it remains a lineup packed with elite talent despite the difficult atmosphere surrounding the club.

Defensive questions remain for Madrid

Most of the uncertainty comes at the back.

Dani Carvajal is back in the squad, although he is not expected to start. Dean Huijsen, who missed the last two games because of the flu, has trained normally in recent days and completed Friday’s session without issue. He could return to the lineup, although Raúl Asencio’s strong performance against Oviedo may earn him another start.

Goalkeeper Andriy Lunin remains doubtful after continuing to deal with the same illness that kept him out against Oviedo. On the left side of defense, Álvaro Carreras could keep his place after an encouraging display.

Possible Real Madrid lineup vs Sevilla

Real Madrid’s projected starting XI against Sevilla is expected to be:

Courtois; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Rüdiger, Asencio, Carreras; Brahim Díaz, Camavinga, Tchouaméni, Bellingham; Vinicius Jr., Mbappé.
