Real Madrid to play in their black strip in Vigo

LaLiga rejected Madrid’s plan to wear their mauve kit due to its resemblance to Celta’s pale blue kit. They will play in their third kit for the first time this season.

Just when it looked like Real Madrid would play in their mauve, away kit in Vigo, LaLiga rejected the request, forcing Ancelotti’s team to take to the pitch in their black third kit at Balaídos in Saturday’s meeting with Celta. However, Madrid would have preferred not to wear their all black kit as it has not yet been officially presented, nor is it on sale to the general public. But LaLiga refused, making it clear that they would have to wear the third kit to avoid a colour clash.

Black is back

The last time Madrid donned their all black strip was in last season’s Clásico at the Bernabéu - it didn’t bring them much luck, they lost the game 0-4. On that occasion, the team were playing in black to celebrate the club’s 120 years. On Saturday however, the players won’t be wearing the same black strip from last season but an entirely new kit which will eventually go on general sale in the club’s store.
