Real Madrid’s predicted starting XI against Celta Vigo in LaLiga
After back-to-back defeats, Madrid travel to Balaídos knowing another slip could damage their title hopes with Barcelona four points ahead.

Real Madrid head to Balaídos this Friday knowing their LaLiga title hopes are under real pressure after two straight defeats handed the lead to Barcelona. The Catalan club now sit four points clear with 36 still available, meaning any further stumble could prove costly.
A setback in Vigo would seriously complicate matters for the Spanish giants, while a victory would apply pressure on Barcelona ahead of their own difficult trip to San Mamés on Saturday – traditionally one of the toughest venues in the league.

Defensive concerns pile up for Arbeloa
For this game, manager Álvaro Arbeloa faces his biggest problems in defense, where several absences have left his options thin. Dean Huijsen and Miguel Gutiérrez Carreras are suspended, while Éder Militão and David Alaba remain sidelined with injuries. Raúl Asencio is also a doubt after picking up a knock.
With Thibaut Courtois expected to start in goal, Trent Alexander-Arnold is likely to occupy the right-back spot. If fit, Asencio will partner Antonio Rüdiger at center back, although Lamini Fati or Diego Aguado could step in if the Canary Islands defender fails to recover in time. On the left side, Ferland Mendy could make an unexpected return to the lineup.
Midfield likely to remain unchanged
In midfield, all signs point to Arbeloa sticking with the same setup used against Getafe – despite the system failing to deliver the desired result. Aurélien Tchouaméni and Arda Güler are expected to form the double pivot, with Federico Valverde operating on the right and Thiago Pitarch on the left.
The young academy graduate Pitarch may receive another opportunity after a composed first start against Getafe that suggested he belongs at this level.
Vinicius leads the attack
Up front, Vinícius Júnior is considered untouchable in the lineup with Kylian Mbappé unavailable. Gonzalo García has frequently partnered him in attack, but Madrid could opt for a different approach in Vigo.
Brahim Díaz offers greater pace in transition, which may prove valuable against a Celta side expected to play higher up the field than Getafe did, potentially leaving space behind their defensive line.
If that plan is confirmed, Madrid’s likely lineup would read: Courtois; Alexander-Arnold, Asencio, Rüdiger, Mendy; Valverde, Güler, Tchouaméni, Pitarch; Brahim Díaz or Gonzalo García alongside Vinícius.
