The Brazilian winger was injured on international duty and is now set to leave the training camp to return to Madrid, where he will start his recovery.

Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr is due back in Madrid in the coming hours as he begins his recovery process from an injury sustained while on international duty with Brazil, reports say.

The 23-year-old went down in Brazil’s CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier loss to Colombia and was forced off the pitch, being substituted for João Pedro before the half hour mark in the game. After the final whistle, Vini Jr spoke to the press, saying that he “took a knock” and that the issue was “the same injury” as the hamstring problem he sustained at the end of August, which kept him out for a month.

When will Vinicius be fit again?

He underwent medical tests after the game and the injury was indeed confirmed to be an issue with his hamstring. During the previous absence due to the same injury in the other leg, he missed four games for Los Blancos.

It’s going to be difficult for me to play against Argentina (on Tuesday)”, Vini added after the game, perhaps more in hope than anything else, “the doctors have told me, but we’ll try everything.” It seems that the worst news has been confirmed for the player, although some reports do point out that the issue is not as serious as last time.

As such, fans can remain hopeful of a somewhat swift return, but we will have to wait for more information in order to make a more secure estimation.

Which players are injured for Real Madrid?

Real Madrid’s injury room is almost as populated as the training pitch, with plenty of first team players undergoing various processes of recover. Thibaut Courtois and Éder MIlitão are the two long-term absentees, with Camavinga the latest alongside Vini Jr to suffer an injury on international duty.

Aurélien Tchouaméni, Arda Güler, Dani Ceballos and Kepa complete the list, with Jude Bellingham also returning home early from international duty this time around due to a shoulder issue.
