Reports suggest Manchester United are interested in Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen

Erik ten Hag wants to revamp the squad and a striker is top of his wish list.

The merry-go-round never stops, it only hides away. Between January and July, and then August to December, it appears like transfers go missing, with these strange things called football matches taking the spotlight of the, erm, football news.

And so, despite not being in the transfer market season anymore, with the invisible window having slammed shut in silence last week, Manchester United are already making headlines about having their pick of one of Europe’s top forwards to pin atop of Erik ten Hag’s creation.

Kane is on ten Hag’s shortlist

According to a report from the Manchester Evening News, the striking priority for ten Hag’s side is Totteham’s all-time top scorer, Harry Kane. The links between Kane and Manchester United seem inevitable and it feels as though the player has been touted as a potential signing since he was a small child, but the fact that Manchester United finally appear to be on the up, and given the fact that a certain forward recently left the club (both of those two facts could not possibly be linked), the lines drawn between the two dots this time around seem a little more visible than before.

Osimhen the next option

The next option for Manchester United would be Napoli forward, Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian forward is propelling Napoli closer and closer to the Serie A title this season and currently has 16 goals in 17 league games played. Manchester United are said to be looking at the sale of Anthony Martial which would open up a space for Osimhen as a guaranteed starter in the side.

Osimhen’s minutes per goal ratio is quite startling to look at, if you’re a defender. He has scored every 94 minutes in all competitions for Napoli, and has seen his name linked all over Europe as a result. He also needs just half the amount of touches Kane does between goals. However, on second looking, this may say more about Kane than the Nigerian, as the Spurs striker often drops to the midfield line in order to aid in the build-up, with Osimhen more as a true number ‘9′. Despite this, he has the same amount of assists as Kane, with 3.

Like any good transfer speculation, there are plenty of names on the list: other striker linked with the club are Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos and Mohammed Kudus, who played under ten Hag at Ajax.
