Riyad Mahrez has left Manchester City to join Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli on a deal until 2027.

The Algerian forward leaves the Etihad after five successful seasons under Pep Guardiola for a reported fee of $38m.

In recent weeks, Al Ahli have completed deals for former Premier League players Edouard Mendy and Roberto Firmino, with Mahrez becoming their latest marquee signing.

Mahrez told mancity.com: “To play for Manchester City has been an honour and privilege.

“I came to City to win trophies and enjoy my football and I achieved all that and so much more.

“I have had five unforgettable years with this football club, working with unbelievable players, fantastic supporters, and the best manager in the world.

“Manchester City will forever be a huge and happy part of my life.”

Premier League titles

Mahrez won a historic Premier League title with Claudio Ranieri’s Leicester City in 2016 and went on to lift the trophy four more times with City as well as the Champions League this year.

In 236 games for City, the 32-year-old scored 78 goals.
