Rollercoaster run on the cards for Real Madrid with seven games in 21 days

As teams make their way back to training following the first international window of the new season, things crank up on the field with the first games in European club competitions also commencing with matches now coming thick and fast.

Madrid travel to the Basque Country on Saturday and face Real Sociedad in the first of a marathon run that will see Los Blancos play seven games in 21 days.
Champions League action then takes centre stage as Olympique Marseille are the visitors to the Santiago Bernabeu in matchday one of the new extended league format.
LaLiga action then returns as Espanyol are the visitors to the capital the following Saturday (Saturday, September 20) ahead of a midweek trip the following Tuesday to face Levante.
The Madrid derby will dominate the weekend schedule undoubtedly with recent trips to the Estadio Metropolitano proving tricky for ‘Los Blancos’ with Atletico having the upper hand in derby games in the San Blas located stadium.
It’s then a 12 hour flight to Almaty where Xabi Alonso’s side make one of the longest trips in European football this season as they face the Kazakh side at the 23,000 Central Stadium in the matchday two game of the Champions League.
The marathon run of games wraps up on October 4 as Villarreal are the visitors to the Bernabeu before the second international window of the season sees players head off to represent their countries as key 2026 World Cup qualifiers beckon.
