Rubén González: “We are going to miss Alexis Vega”
Chivas have lost one of their best players in Vega and González admits that he will be a loss.
Alexis Vega will miss part of the Clausura 2023 and the severity of his injury and prognosis for recovery will be known on Wednesday. The Chivas forward will be out for some time and his team-mates recognise how important he is and how much they will miss him.
“We know what Vega brings to the team. Obviously it hurts that he’s been injured, and obviously we’re going to miss him, but as we’ve talked about in the group, we know that he’s waiting for the moment that he’ll be available again. He’ll be ready to give his best and that’s the main thing. We’re going to miss him, but those who are here are prepared to do the same or better,” explained midfielder Rubén González.
At the start of the 2023 tournament, Chivas have picked up four points on the road and although they are in third place in the table, they have been criticised for their performances. “The four points are good. We haven’t lost, they were two very difficult grounds to go to. Maybe there’s still the criticism from the San Luis game, but we know that we had the impetus to go for it. We didn’t get it, but it’s four points that keep us there, undefeated at the start of the tournament,” González continued.
Praise for Paunovic
He adds that head coach Veljko Paunovic has been an important part of Guadalajara’s success at the start of the season. “I think the mentality with which the coach works has been key and has helped us to change the way we see things. We will always go for the win, not give up, press, run, all having the same idea. That’s the fundamental thing that has helped us to collect four points,” he concluded.
