Ryanair 1-0 Real Madrid
The Irish based airline were quick to take a pop at the Spanish club after news that Jose Mourinho is set for a return to the Bernabeu.
Italian reporter Fabrizio Romano has become synonymous with the world of big transfers and any move for a major player or head coach to a new club is heralded with a social media post from the Italian with the catchphrase ‘here we go’.
Ahead of Jose Mourinho’s return to manage Real Madrid next season with the Portuguese calling time with Benfica, Romano posted a tweet with the details relating to 63-year-old returning to the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
The official Ryanair X account couldn’t resist taking a pop at the famous Spanish side with a reply to Romano’s message stating: ‘more managers than trophies this season’.
The post immediately went viral generating more than a thousand comments, more than 7,000 reposts and has been viewed by more than 2.3 million users.
Europe’s leading budget airline Ryanair is famous for completely throwing out the traditional corporate PR playbook. Instead of polite, boilerplate customer service responses, their social media team leans hard into self-deprecating humor, pop culture memes, and savage roasts—often targeting their own customers.
