Sadio Mané delights the Bundesliga with goals and fairplay
He had the ball in the net in the 0-7 win against Bochum only for VAR to rule it out. But there were no complaints from Mané, who ended the game with a brace.
Sadio Mané has landed on his feet at Bayern Munich and in the Bundesliga. The former Liverpool player has scored four goals in four games for his new club, including two in the 0-7 win against Bochum. Had it not been for his honesty, Mané would have ended the game with a hat trick. His sense of fairplay during the game has been applauded by the entire Bundesliga.
The incident happened in the 40th minute of the game at Vonovia Ruhrstadion. A Kingsley Coman header crashed onto the post and the Senegalese star ended up sending the rebound into the back of the net. Immediately, he smiled, pointed to his right hand and winked at Coman, making his French team mate understand that he had scored the goal with his hand. More proof that Mané, part from being one of the game’s top players, is also an advocate of fair play.
The incident was spotted by VAR, which notified referee Daniel Siebert to review the goal and ended up canceling it. There was no protest from Mané about the referee’s decision, he went ahead and finished the match scoring a brace. The striker is the new attraction in Munich, delighting supporters just as he did at Anfield, where he is missed by a large section of the fans.
