After much speculation linking the Mexican striker with a myriad of top European clubs, Santi Giménez will stay in Rotterdam after Feyenoord confirmed that the 22-year-old has penned a new deal that will see him stay at De Kuip through to 2027.

The former Cruz Azul forward moved to the Netherlands in the summer of 2022 and took like a fish to water in the Eredivisie where his 23 goals and 3 assists in all competitions made him the club’s top scorer last season as the Rotterdam side secured the Dutch league title.

The Buenos Aires born also impressed for Mexico in the recent Gold Cup and his late goal in the final over Panama was good enough for El Tri to secure the title and ease the pressure after a poor showing at the CONCACAF Nations League final four.

“I am grateful to Feyenoord for the confidence that this contract extension expresses,” said Giménez. ‘The club helped me in every possible way to make sure my adjustment went well when I came to Rotterdam. Thanks to the help of the trainers and my fellow players, I had a great first season. With supporters who always give me an incredible amount of energy. With that, I am really living my dream at the moment and I am more than looking forward to the coming season and our new challenges.”
