Santiago Giménez is running out of time as 200 drought is reached
The Mexican striker has endured a difficult year in Italy after injury, a long goal drought and limited minutes with AC Milan.
The 2025-26 season is nearing its end and Santiago Giménez is closing out a very difficult campaign in every sense of his career.
After being a goalscorer for Feyenoord in the Eredivisie, the Mexican has struggled to find consistency in Serie A with AC Milan and, after his injury, Giménez has recorded the worst goalscoring run of his career.
When did Giménez last score?
This season, he has now gone more than 200 days without scoring a goal in the Rossoneri shirt. The last time the former Cruz Azul academy player found the net was in September of last year.
The Mexican striker scored in the Coppa Italia against Lecce in the second round of the cup competition. Since September 23, 2025, Giménez has not scored.
It should be remembered that he underwent surgery for an ankle hematoma, an operation that kept him away from stadiums from November 2 of last year.
No goals in Serie A
Although he has played only 13 Serie A games, Giménez could finish the campaign with AC Milan without scoring a single goal in Italian soccer.
Giménez’s attacking contribution to Milan this season has been limited to just one assist in all the Serie A games he has played.
World Cup place in danger for Santi
Giménez, given the few minutes of action he has had in 2026, could miss being selected for this summer’s World Cup. The Mexican striker would miss his second World Cup after being left out of Qatar 2022 by Gerardo Martino.
